Author’s Guide

LAUTECH Journal of Civil and Environmental Studies (LAUJOCES) is a bi-annual (March and September) academic journal of the Department of Civil Engineering, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Nigeria. It is an international peer review journal which publishes original research papers, reviews and technical notes in the fields of Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Highway and Transportation Engineering, Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Sciences and other related disciplines. LAUJOCES provides a veritable platform for dissemination of new research outputs, latest technologies and discoveries that promote research, academic excellence and sustainable development.

You are hereby invited to submit academic and research articles to the Next Edition of LAUJOCES. Articles written in English Language are accepted for publications after thorough peer reviews have been undertaken.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • Language

Manuscripts must be written in English Language preferably in British Standard.

  • Paper Length

Total length of paper submitted for possible publication in LAUJOCES should be maximum of 10000, 6000 and 2000 words for review papers, research articles and technical notes, respectively. Manuscripts must be prepared only in MS Word format with single column, 12 font size and single line spacing in A4 size with left margin: 2.5cm, right margin: 2.0cm, top margin: 2.0cm and bottom margin: 2.0cm, using Times New Roman.

  • Title Page

Title page must contain the authors’ full names, address or affiliations of all authors as well as the email address and phone number of the corresponding author.

  • Title

Title must be clear, concise, informative and may contain no more than fifteen words asides prepositions and conjunctions. It must

also be in “title case” without abbreviations and formulae where possible.

  • Abstract

All articles must contain abstract with maximum of 250 words as well as 5-6 keywords. Abstract must be very clear, concise and give information about the purpose of the study, method used, major findings and conclusion. It should be devoid of references but may contain recommendations useful to researchers.

  • Manuscript Body

The body of all manuscripts should include the following sections:

Introduction

Materials and Methods

Results and Discussion

Conclusion

Acknowledgements (optional)

References

Appendix (optional)

  • Main body format

Section (First Level): Title case

Sub section sample (Second level): Sentence case

Sample heading (Third level):This level, if any, should be in italic and not bold.

All paragraphs should be in block type

Displayed equations are centered and set on a separate line.

  • Tables and Figures format

Tables and Figures should be numbered serially, must be referred to within the text and presented immediately after their discussions. In this journal, all illustrations are referred to as “Figure” and written as Fig. 1.

  • References

References should follow the APA Style of referencing. It should be arranged in alphabetical order. The following referencing styles can be used as guides.
